Here is the number 157 Chromeboy for sale.
The chrome is peeling off at some places, as it is a well known problem with those guitars, don’t let it distract you. What you see is a result of 25 years of playing, so you don’t have to worry about that the pealing will go on rapidly. It eventually will, but only if you play it a lot. It won’t go fast, if you take good care of her. Think of her als as a Rory Gallagher Chromeboy. You also don’t have to worry about, that you will damage the finish, it has been already done for you;). And… you ca always deside to let the finish be restored. The guitar is a classic example of a player and not a “Case Queen”! However, the frets are good, the electronics, the tuners, the tremolo are all working perfect. It is an iconic boutique very high-end guitar and a legendary player!
Besides that, the guitar is perfect and plays like surfing with the alien;)!
She comes with Ibanez signature model hard case, which is used and of which two of the 4 bottom knobs are off, othersise in good working condition.
The JS10th is a solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 1998. It is a signature model of Joe Satriani and part of the Joe Satriani series. It was also referred to as the Chromeboy.
In 1987 Joe Satriani became an endorser of Ibanez guitars. 10 years later in 1998 Ibanez released the JS10th (aka Chrome Boy/Chromeboy) to celebrate a decade long partnership with Joe. These guitars are now among the most sought after guitars made by Ibanez on secondary markets.
The JS10th features a Luthite body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. Components include a pair of DiMarzio humbucking pickups, an original Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines.
The rear control cover is inscribed with “In commemoration of the 10 year association and collaboration between Joe Satriani and Ibanez Guitars” along with a unique production number.
A total of 506 JS10th’s were produced. Additionally there were a handful of Chromeboys that were refinished by Ibanez and recorded as 507(N), there are at least four of these refinished Chromeboys, but it’s not known precisely how many exist.
